The Haven Ugborough South Devon Holiday Home

The Haven is a beautifully restored 19th-century village home that seamlessly blends period character with modern comfort. Fully renovated in 2014, it offers everything you would expect from a contemporary retreat, including underfloor heating throughout, a cosy and inviting sitting room, and a spacious, light-filled kitchen and dining area designed for relaxed living and entertaining.

Upstairs, the three bedrooms and two stylish bathrooms are finished to a high standard, providing a calm and comfortable space for up to six guests. Outside, a fully enclosed garden offers a sunny, private haven with lawn and terrace — perfect for al fresco relaxing or unwinding after a day exploring.

Perfectly positioned in the heart of Ugborough village square, The Haven enjoys a wonderfully peaceful setting with two excellent pubs just a short stroll from the front door. Despite its tranquil feel, the village has no through traffic and sits only minutes from the A38, making it an ideal base for exploring the South Hams. Dartmoor’s southern edge is just a 10-minute drive away, while some of our favourite beaches can be reached in around 15 minutes.

I grew up in South West Devon and still have family here, so being able to create a home just a few miles from where I was raised feels incredibly special. It gives us our own family base, and a chance to share this beautiful part of the world with our children. When we are not staying, we open The Haven to guests so they too can experience this unique setting — perfectly placed between coast and moor.

We kept the name The Haven when we bought the house, as it captures exactly what it offers: a peaceful escape from the pace of everyday life. Our hope is that you will feel completely at home here — relaxed, comfortable, and able to enjoy everything this special corner of Devon has to offer.
